
GARETH PRITCHARD

Originally from South Wales in the UK, where he began playing Cornet at 9 years of age in the local
Colliery Band, Gareth moved to the Orlando area in 2015. He immediately became the Musical Advisor to the Brass Band of Central Florida (BBCF) and Musical Director of the Youth Brass Band of
Central Florida (YBBCF). By the summer of 2016, he was delighted to accept the vacant position of
Music Director for the BBCF.
Having studied Composition, Conducting, Music History and Performance at Trinity College of Music, London, Gareth graduated with both an FTCL (Master’s Degree) and an LTCL (Bachelor’s Degree - with added Teacher’s Diploma - TD) in just 4 years. A feat not matched by anyone, even to this day.
He brings with him a wealth of experience in wide ranging styles and genres from Big Band & Jazz to Classical Orchestral, Wind Band and Brass Band music at the highest level, that spans more than 50 years. Gareth has been involved with many first-class Symphony Orchestras, Wind Bands and Brass Bands, both as an amateur and a professional player/conductor, winning many National Awards and Brass Band Competitions both in the UK and Scandinavia. He has also been awarded the title of ‘Champion Soloist of Great Britain’ on two separate occasions.
Gareth is an active member of the elite Association of Brass Band Adjudicators and is also a fully
registered adjudicator for Florida Bandmaster’s Association. He has adjudicated at major Festivals
and Competitions all over Western Europe and the USA.
His compositions and arrangements are played worldwide with many of them also having been
commercially recorded.
